Brian Caverly is an artist and faculty member at Westchester Community College. The most interesting thing I saw this week was in the Fine Arts Gallery on campus; his sculpture piece titled, Studio Abandon. I have never seen anything quite like it before. This is a “must see it in person thing” to grasp the full effect of what it is. The viewer is invited to peer in through the windows of what appears to be not much more than a wooden crate. Inside, is the discovery of the artist’s studio replicated in miniature form. There are tiny crafted plastic buckets, milk crates, bottles of chemicals, magazines, furniture, and even little florescent lights in the ceiling. The more time you spend with it, the more you discover about the artist and his studio.
